Tesamorelin is a synthetic growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH) analogue. Its primary proven benefit is reducing visceral abdominal fat (the fat around internal organs), particularly in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. It stimulates your body’s own growth hormone production rather than supplying growth hormone directly.

Potential benefits include:

1. Reduction in visceral (“deep belly”) fat

This is the best-supported benefit. Clinical trials have shown reductions in visceral adipose tissue of roughly 15–20% in abdominal fat accumulation. Importantly, it preferentially targets deep abdominal fat rather than subcutaneous fat.

2. Improved body composition

Studies have found decreases in visceral fat along with increases in lean body mass, helping improve overall body composition.

3. Reduced liver fat
